Muhlenberg County Kentucky is located in the Western Coal Field region of the state. The elevation in the county ranges from 355 to 760 feet above sea level. In 2010 the county population was 31,499 in a land area of 474.7 square miles, an average of 66.4 people per square mile. The county seat is Greenville.

Kentucky is one of four U.S. states constituted as a commonwealth. Originally a part of Virginia, in 1792 it became the 15th state to join the Union. Kentucky is the 37th largest state in terms of total area, the 36th largest in land area, and ranks 26th in population.
